Stanley Goes Fishing
Craig Frazier
Picture Book (Series)
Ages 3 to 5
Chronicle Books, 2006, 0-8118-5244-X
Stanley is making preparations to go fishing. Soon his boat is in the water and he is rowing up the “curly” stream to find a good place to throw out his line. At last he finds the “perfect place” and casts his line. Patiently he waits and then he gets a bite – only it isn’t exactly a bite for what Stanley has caught is a large old boot. How very disappointing. All those preparations only to discover that there are no fish to be had. Then Stanley has an idea and he does something truly extraordinary to make sure that the next time he comes to this spot there will indeed be fish in the stream.
Craig Frazier not only creates startling and unique artwork for his books, but he also gives his readers something to think about. With the turn of a page he turns an ordinary story into something extraordinary encouraging his readers to think “outside the box” and to stretch their imaginations.
