In many parts of the world April is a wet month, an unpredictable time of year when it can be cold one moment and warm the next. It is a time when love is in the air. Many animals are finding mates. Birds are singing their songs while others are trying to prove to one another how strong and able they are. Others, such as raccoons, mice and foxes are already busy taking care of new babies.
This is a time when pollen is drifting on the air as plants begin the process of pollination. Dogwoods are in bloom and those all too familier weeds such as dandelions and chickweed begin to fill empty lots once again.
For people April is the month which we begin with jokes on April Fool’s Day. Later in the month there is Easter and Passover, two very special religious holidays of remembrance which we enjoy spending with our families.
One of the titles in the “It happens in the month of…” series, this charming little book will give young children an excellent picture of what to expect in the month of April. They will get an overview of the month including facts about natural history, the April birthstone, the April flower, the April zodiac, the calendar, the weather, special days, famous events, April birthdays, and an April story.
