Hooray for Fall!

Kazuo Iwamura

Picture Book

Ages 4 to 7

NorthSouth, 2009, 0735822522

It is fall and Mick, Mack, and Molly, the little squirrels, go out to collect nuts with their Papa.

That night, their mother works hard on her knitting, and in the morning she has three new red sweaters for her children.

Mick, Mack and Molly love their new sweaters, and before they go out the next day they put them on. As they walk through the woods the little squirrels see signs of fall around them. They talk to a mama bird who tells them she and her family are “flying south to a warm place” for the winter. They see that the berries in the woods have turn red. The leaves too have changed color. Everywhere they look things have turned red - just like their sweaters.

Throughout this story, Kazuo Iwamura engages young children with his lovely illustrations and charming characters. Young readers are sure to get in the mood for fall after reading this book.
