Flower Fairies Springtime Dance
Based on the original Flower Fairies Books by Cicely Mark Barker
Picture Book (Series)
Ages 4 to 7
Penguin (USA and Canada), 2006, 0-7232-5726-4
Soon it is going to be time for the Flower Fairies to hold their Springtime Festival. For this special event they need to choose one of their number who will sing and dance for the opening of the festival. It is soon decided that Narcissus has the prettiest voice and dance, and she is chosen for the honor.
Narcissus starts to feel very nervous about dancing and singing in front of everyone and of being all alone out there on the grassy dance floor. In fright she hides herself in the flower bed and will not come out even when it is time for her to do her performance. Thankfully Narcissus gets a little help from a kind and sensitive little friend who makes it possible for her to dance in front of all the other fairies without being afraid.
Any little fairy friend who has been afraid of a recital or concert will find this little tale familiar and comforting. With highly detailed and delicate artwork and a whole cast of fairies to meet, this book will charm fairy lovers of all ages.
