American Civil War
The American Civil War, also known as the "War Between States" was fought between 1861 and 1865. While not the only issue behind the war, slavery was a key issue, and in 1861 eleven slave states seceeded from the Unites States to form the Confederate States of America. Eventually the Confederate States were beaten and the Union restored, but only after a long and bloody war. During the war, Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which ultimately ended slavery in the United States. To find more books of related interest please use the search feature.
