  Volcanoes are a powerful force of nature and they can, at times, cause a great deal of destruction and loss of life. Thankfully volcanoes are not found all over the world. Instead they are mostly found along the Pacific Ocean in an area called the Ring of Fire.

  Volcanoes can be active, dormant, and extinct. Ones that are active spit out ash and lava. Typically lava does not flow very fast and humans and animals can get out of its way. Mud flows are formed when a hot volcano melts snow nearby and they can be very dangerous indeed.

  This Pull Ahead-Forces of Nature title will give little children a very clear idea of what volcanoes are, where they occur, and how dangerous they are. Excellent photographs on every page will help readers to understand the well written and east to follow text, and a cross-section diagram near the end of the book shows the basic inner structure of a volcanic mountain.
