Every November eleventh, people all America watch parades, listen to band music, and put up American flags. It is Veteran’s Day, and on this day we thank and honor the soldiers who have served and continue to serve America in times of war and peace. These men and women risk their lives to keep America and her allies safe. We think of pilots, sailors, and soldiers serving in times of war, but they also help out when disasters strike; when there has been a hurricane, an airplane crash, and or an earthquake. The Coast Guard patrols America’s waters protect citizens, and to help boats and ships that get into trouble.

This informative title will help young readers to better understand what Veteran’s Day is all about. They will learn about the holiday’s origins and how it is celebrated today. This is one of the titles in the On My Own Holidays series.
