One winter's day Rory makes a wonderful dragon with his craft supplies. At night, the time that Rory hates the most because the winter darkness frightens him, his dragon comes to life and casts a light across the room. As long as he is there Rory need not "fear the night." Rory discovers that his guest is the Winter Dragon, and soon the two are fast friends. There is so much that the dragon can do to make Rory's life more comfortable, more safe, more interesting (the dragon tells wonderful stories), and less lonely. Through the adventures that they share in Rory's dreamtime the dragon also shows Rory that he can be brave if he tries
There comes a time though when the Winter Dragon has to leave Rory, for now the winter is over and spring is on its way. Though it is sad to loose the dragon's friendship, the gifts that he gave Rory will never leave the little boy.
Sophy Williams has created beautifully magical artwork with soft pastels which perfectly compliment the lyrical text which tells the story of a little boy's battle with his own fears.
