The Mole Sisters and the Wavy Wheat
Roslyn Schwartz
Picture Book (Series)
Ages 3 to 6
Annick Press, 2000, 1-55037-660-8
The mole sisters are in the mood for a change. Instead of going up the left hand tunnel, which is what they usually do, they decide to go up the right hand tunnel. When they get to the surface they decide to do something different again. They are going to go up, up the stems of some lovely golden wheat. So up they go until they reach the ripe heads of the wheat waving in the wind.
The sisters are amazed at how different everything is up here, how blue the sky is, and how far they see into the distance. The sisters have a wonderful time and when their adventure is over they get down to the ground using a wheat stalk and take with them a little souvenir to remind them of their wonderful day.
In this charming little tale the mole sisters once again revel in the simple pleasures of exploring the beautiful places in their world. They try something new, and in so doing see things from a new point of view. With delightful little colored pencil drawings, this is a picture book which readers of all ages will find enjoyable.
