The Mole Sisters and the Question
Roslyn Schwartz
Picture Book (Series)
Ages 3 to 6
Annick Press, 2004, 1-55037-768-X
The mole sisters are in a philosophic mood today. They are asking the question “Who are we?” Being determined little moles they then set out to try to find the answer to this very important question. They try being fish, and soon determine that as they don’t live in water, they cannot possibly be fish. They think about whether they are birds but quickly come to the conclusion that they cannot be birds. They examine the possibility that they might be snails but they are not solitary like snails and would never want to be so.
In this delightful and sometimes charmingly silly picture book, the mole sisters take a little journey of self discovery and have a lot of fun doing it. Young children will enjoy looking at the pictures and might even be tempted to take their own ‘Who Am I’ trip even though they, like the mole sisters, know the answer all along.
