The Gaggle Sisters Sing Again
Chris Jackson
Picture Book
Ages 5 to 7
Lobster Press, 2003, 189422256-3
Last night the Gaggle Sisters had a very successful first concert in their River Tour. In the morning Sadie wastes no time and before her sister Dorothy is even up Sadie goes to the House of Hats and spend all their profits on a new hat for herself. Poor Dorothy is dismayed. What are they going to live on until they can make some more money?
When is starts to rain it seems as if everything is going wrong and poor Dorothy becomes both wet and miserable. To cheer her up Sadie sings her glum sister some songs and they get an unexpected windfall when a crowd of creatures turns up to listen to the lovely music.
The next day the two musical geese get a surprising visitor, a visitor who might be a great asset to their singing act. The problem is that the visitor is a frog. How is Dorothy going to convince her sister to let the frog join the show?
Once again Dorothy the goose saves the day in spite of her often annoying sister. Readers will find it hard not to sympathize with Dorothy who does her best to keep the show on the road and at the same time, keep her high-and-mighty sister happy. Anyone who has struggled to keep the peace with a sibling will have no difficulty relating to this amusing pair of musical geese.
