It is the first day of Chanukah and a little boy is very excited because before him there are eight days of special treats to look forward to. By the light of the first Chanukah candle the little boy sees a present waiting for him on the table. On the second day two rambunctious Maccabees join the festivities and on the third day the little boy's mother makes three challahs, the special bread that is eaten during the Chanukah festival. For each of the eight days another candle is added to the menorah and another treat is revealed. Perhaps best of all, every Chanukah evening more and more family members and friends arrive to share the celebrations with the little boy's family.
Written in the style of "The twelve days of Christmas" this Chanukah picture book is full of images of wonderful family times, special meals that young and old alike enjoy, and treats which are only given and shared during this wonderful time of year.
Affectionate ink and watercolor illustrations bring the family to life as they celebrate this unique holiday with those whom they love.
