Look everyone! A circus is coming to town. Let’s go to see the parade. Will there be clowns? Will we see the big cats? Most important of all, will there be elephants?

First we see the bandwagon, which is being pulled by eight lovely horses. Look at that trombone player. He is puffing on his instrument so hard that he has popped a button. What is that purring sound I hear?

Why, it is the wagon of big cats. Look at the lion tamer working with his tigers, and aren’t those leopard girls pretty in the spotted outfits?

Further along there is a glorious pink and purple wagon that is full of orangutans in fancy outfits. Isn’t it all deliciously funny and absurd?

But, and we cannot help asking this question, where are the elephants?

Readers who have a fondness for circuses will love this colorful, movement filled circus parade. The text is minimal and engaging, pulling readers into the spirit of the circus by asking questions and making exclamations. The artwork is a delightful mélange of fantastical characters and outrageous scenes. There is so much to look at, and Hilary Knight encourages his readers to explore by posing questions and by - in a box at the back of the book - asking his readers to find certain items on every page.
