Suzy Goose and the Christmas Star

Petr Horacek

Picture Book

Ages 3 to 6

Candlewick Press, 2009, 0763644870

It is Christmas Eve and Suzy Goose and the other barn animals have just finished decorating their tree. The tree is perfect except for one thing, it needs a star to decorate the top. Suzy Goose sees the perfect star in the night sky, and she decides to get the star for the Christmas tree.

Unfortunately, the star is a lot harder to reach than Suzy expected it would be. When she stands on a fence, she cannot reach the star. A pile of logs does not do the trick either. Then Suzy decides to walk towards the star. She walks and walks and finally she realizes that’s she is never going to be able to get to the star. Not only that but poor Suzy is very tired and she is a long way away from her home and friends.

This sweet picture book will delight little children who love animals and who enjoy looking at the star on their own Christmas tree. With its touch of Christmas magic, this book is a perfect title to read during the weeks leading up to Christmas.
