  Winter is finally coming to a close. Birds are flying north and as a light spring rain falls, flowers bloom all around. As the earth warms, seeds sprout, trees put out new leaves and creatures come out of burrows and nests to find a mate and to build nests. Many creatures lay eggs including birds and insects. Other animals have new babies to take care of and there is plenty of food for everyone.
 This is also a time of change for people as well. Farmers get out into their fields to plant their seeds and gardeners are busy planting flower beds and vegetable plots. Spring is also the season when we celebrate April Fool’s Day and Easter. Easter egg hunts and egg rolling races are just a few of the things children enjoy at this time of year.
  Young children will greatly enjoy reading this book about spring which will familiarize them with this green and flower-filled season. Bright and colorful photographs accompany the text and at the back of the book there is a cooking activity to try which the whole family will enjoy.
