Ashley and Mrs. Wagner are quietly relaxing in Mrs. Wagner's garden, enjoying the lovely weather, looking at the flowers, and watching the wild animals. Mrs. Wagner has a truly lovely garden and it is a pleasure to sit there. Then Mrs. Wagner asks Ashley if she would pot out some flowers for her.
Ashley is convinced that this is a job which is far too difficult for her. What if she makes a mistake and breaks a pot or damages a plant? Ashley is standing there wondering what to do when she hears a little voice coming from a one of the flowering shrubs. When she goes over to investigate Ashley sees a small tubby bubble bee sitting on a purple flower. The bee introduces herself as Ruby Lee and she then gets down to the business of showing Ashley that all she needs is a little confidence in herself to be able to do the task that Mrs. Wagner has asked her to do.
Richly illustrated in bright colors and with detailed border elements, this picture book will give children the boost that they need when their self confidence is flagging. Just like the chubby bumble bee which really shouldn't be able to fly because of its size but which manages to do it anyway, a children can do anything they want if they believe in themselves enough.
Empowering and supportive, this is a picture book which should be on every child's book shelf.
