The Pig family are going for a picnic at the beach today and on the way they see all sorts of things on the streets of Busytown. One of the things they see is pretty Officer Flossy on her bike following Dingo who is a dreadfully fast and reckless driver. Will she catch the wily fellow and give him the ticket he so richly deserves? Then there are various mishaps of the kind that can only happen in Busytown. A whole fleet of dump vehicles empty their loads in the wrong place; Charlie the carpenter sprinkles the road with nails and everyone who drives on it gets a flat tire; Pa Pig follows the wrong sign and ends up on an airport runway. It is all too ridiculous and delightful
In addition to watching the progress of the Pigs and seeing all the fascinating and funny vehicles on the roads, children can have the fun of looking for Goldbug on every double page spread and trying to guess what new disaster is going to occur on the road ahead. They can see a road being build, trees being cut down, a fire being put out, a race, wheat being harvested, and much more. With so much to look at and to keep track of this is book which will engage young readers for hours on end.
