Sixteen year old Dulcie has been reading her friend Cicely’s book about how to find Flower Fairies and she is sure that she saw fairies when she was child staying with Cicely. Dulcie cannot help wondering why it is that she has not seen fairies since that time, and she becomes determined to do her best to find the elusive little creatures

Luckily Cicely is happy to help Dulcie with her quest. She writes to the young girl and she also sends Dulcie some drawings which Dulcie made when she stayed with Cicely all those years ago. The drawings are of fairies of various kinds. Cicely also includes a photo of Dulcie, and a delicate little collection of violet petals which Dulcie found at Cicely’s house during that special visit.

When Dulcie goes to have tea with her old friend they talk about fairies at length and Dulcie begins to wonder if it is lack of belief in the fairies that has driven them from her. Perhaps if she gives them a gift to show her sincerity the fairies will reveal themselves to her one more.

Fans of Cicely’s Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies are sure to be delighted with this beautiful novelty book. The story is charming and throughout the book there are envelopes to open, little books and letters to read, and delightful illustrations to look at. With its journal-like presentation, “Return to Fairyopolis” offers readers a picture of a young girl’s life in a different age . The surprising finale on the last two pages will surely give readers great pleasure.
