Pup and Hound in Trouble
Susan Hood
Illustrated by Linda Hendry
Fiction (Series)
Ages 5 to 6
Kids Can Press, 2005, 1-55337-677-3
Hound is having a quiet little snooze in the farm yard when he hears a yelp. Pup is in trouble! In a moment hound is on the scene. It would appear that Pup has fallen into the pig sty. Dear me what a mess he is in. Clearly a wash is called for so Hound carries Pup down to the pond. Unfortunately Pup quickly gets himself into trouble again. This time he gets “stuck in weeds and muck” and then he manages to bother Mama Duck. In fact Pup goes from one troublesome situation to another and poor Hound has to rescue him again and again.
Written in an easy rhyming style and liberally sprinkled with familiar barnyard sounds, this entertaining early reader is sure to put a smile on the face of children and their parents who will be hard put not to be charmed by Hound and his troublesome but loveable little charge.

Action Alert

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
