  Halloween is almost here and Omar the bear is very excited. Not only does he have trick-or-treating to look forward to but he is also going to be having a party at his house after the trick-or-treating time is over. Omar has decided that he is going to dress up as a spider. After all, spiders are really scary aren’t they? But, it turns out that Omar’s friend Elsie thinks that spiders are “helpful” and Omar has to think of something else. The problem is that every idea he comes up with turns out not to scary enough. In the end Omar is forced to go with the old standby, the ghost costume, and he is not at all happy with it either. After all everyone thinks those ghost costumes are “cute” and not at all scary.

  Omar and his friends go out trick-or-treating and they have bags full of goodies when it starts to rain. In the mad scramble to get to Omar’s house and out of the rain, Omar is separated from his friends and he ends up falling in the mud and into a thorny bush. It is only when he gets home that Omar realizes that his ghost costume has been transformed and he manages to have the best Halloween ever.

  This is the perfect title for those little Halloween fans who dream of creating the perfect scary costume. They will truly appreciate how essential it is for Omar to find just the right costume for this important evening. With atmospheric illustrations which are often highly amusing, this is a delightful holiday title.
