The Authors and Illustrators - Profiles

Nicolas Debon

Nicolas Debon was born in Nancy, France, and grew up in Lyons. As a child, he spent a lot of time exploring nature and feeding an interest in archeology with a lot of reading. Along with history, his favorite books were adventure stories and Belgian/French comic strips like Tintin and Asterix.
When he was 18, Nicolas entered an École des Beaux-Arts to pursue an interest in contemporary art. His talents eventually earned him a job with the French Ministry of Culture’s contemporary visual arts department. From there, he moved to Foreign Affairs, which brought him to the French Consulate in Toronto.
Nicolas has lived in Toronto for about 10 years, where he worked for a stained glass company, until he returned to France.

ACTION ALERT!

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
