Mommy, where are you?

Leonid Gore

Picture Book

Ages 3 to 7

Simon and Schuster, 2009, 1-4169-5505-4

Ozzy, the little mouse, wakes up one morning to discover that his mother is not at home. Naturally, Ozzy gets worried and he runs outside to find his mother. At first he thinks he sees her behind a fence, but when he goes around the fence, Ozzy realizes that what he thought was his mother is just a bunch of fluffy grass. Next Ozzy thinks that he sees his mother’s tail peeking around a large rock. Alas, when he goes around the rock all he sees is a smiling earthworm.

With peek-a-boo and cleverly shaped pages throughout the book, this is a title that small children are sure to enjoy. Ozzy is easy to identify with, and Leonid Gore’s unique illustrations beautifully compliment the text.
