Maisy goes to the museum

Lucy Cousins

Picture Book (Series)

Ages 2 to 4

Candlewick Press, 2008, 978-0-7636-3838-2

It is a rainy day and Maisy Mouse and her friends have decided to go to the museum. They begin their explorations by looking at the dinosaurs. They all find the huge T-Rex skeleton very interesting. Next they go to the transportation section where Charley admires the old vehicles. Maisy is very taken with an old biplane, and she even imagines what it might be like to be an astronaut on the moon. In the vintage toy room Tallulah falls in love with an antique dollhouse.

There are so many wonderful things to look at and to play with in the museum, and Maisy and her friends find that there really is something for everyone in the wonderful place.

Little children who have never been to a museum before will find this particular museum visit very interesting. They will surely want to go to a museum for themselves after they see how much fun Maisy and her friends are having.

In this enjoyable book Lucy Cousin’s famous mouse character is as delightful as ever. Maisy’s everyday adventures will appeal to small children, and Lucy Cousins’ illustrations are cheerful and accessible.
