Maisy Goes to Preschool

Lucy Cousins

Picture Book (Series)

For ages 2 to 4

Candlewick Press, 2009, 0763642541

Today is a special day because Maisy Mouse is going to preschool. Inside the preschool building Maisy sees her friend Dotty. Tallulah and Cyril are also in Mr. Peacock’s class with Maisy.

The children begin their day by painting pictures. Maisy paints a picture of her new house and Dotty draws a picture of Maisy and Dotty dancing together. After their paintings have been hung up on the wall, Maisy joins her friends for snack time. They all enjoy the juice, cookies, and fruit that Mr. Peacock gives them.

Going to preschool for the first time can be very intimidating for a small child. Thankfully, Maisy is around to help make that first day less frightening. In this book, Lucy Cousins describes what a typical preschool day is like, and her colorful illustrations show little children what to expect. After they have read this book, children will feel more excited and less worried about their first day in preschool.
