“All aboard!” it is time to get on the train. We are going to take an alphabetical journey through the world of trains, and we are going to see things from the early days of steam locomotives to present day high speed trains. Some of the things you are going to see on these pages will be familiar, whereas others will be quite new to you. For example on the B page you will see a Boxcar. Most of us have seen one of these at some time or another. On the H page there is a Hospital train. These were brought into use during times of war only and not many of use have seen or been on one.
You will not only see different kinds of trains on these pages. You will also see things that have influenced trains and railroads. On the I page for example you will see Immigrants building railroads and on the O page you will see a photograph of an engineer using Oil to keep a train “running smoothly.” Then there are those other items we associate with trains and railroads such as Posters, Routes, Tunnels, Tickets, Whistles, Junctions, and more.
Any youngster who has the train bug will love this unique alphabet book. Packed with period photographs and vintage illustrations, posters, and advertisements, this is the perfect book to browse through.
