Library Mouse: A Friend’s Tale

Daniel Kirk

Picture Book

Ages 5 to 7

Abrams, 2009, 978-0-8109-8927-6

Sam is a little mouse. He lives in a library and he loves to read and write. Indeed, Sam is a very good writer and he has created numerous little books that the children who visit the library greatly enjoy. None of the humans know that their mystery writer is a mouse and Sam wants to keep it this way.

Then Tom comes to the library for the weekly Writers and Illustrator’s Club. Quite by accident Tom discovers who and what Sam is. Will he tell everyone what he knows or will he keep Sam’s secret?

In this charming picture book, readers will see how an unlikely partnership - and friendship - can bloom even under very difficult circumstances. Children will enjoy looking at Sam’s little books, and might even be tempted to write and illustrate their own little tales.
