Why are so many people crazy about knitting? Why should you even consider learning to knit in the first place? Well for one thing, instead of buying that expensive hat or scarf in a store, you can make it yourself. More importantly though, knitting can be great fun. You can form a knitting club and get to know interesting people and you cannot imagine how rewarding it is to make something with your own two hands.
Learning the basics of knitting is not as hard as it looks and with this book in hand you will find it to be a pretty painless process. The author begins by showing her readers the tools that knitters use. She then goes on to teach would-be knitters how to cast on stitches, how to knit, how to purl, and how to cast off. She also explains how to sew up a seam and she cautions her knitters not to “throw a knit fit” when they make a mistake. She then helps them remedy some of the common mistakes that knitters make.
Next knitters move on to the projects. They begin with a scarf and knitters will discover that there are lots of ways to make a scarf unique and creative. Next there are patterns for simple but pretty purses of various sizes. Ipod and cell phone cases follow. Finally there are patterns for simple get attractive hats, with or without a pom-pom.
Because this knitting kit includes knitting needles, a yarn needle and fifty yards of yarn, knitters will be able to try out their new skills at once, experimenting and trying out the techniques taught in the book. All in all this kit offers novice knitters a wonderful way to learn a very useful, creative, and enjoyable craft.
This is one of the titles in the “Pretty Simple Stuff” series.
