Josh’s grandfather has a huge pumpkin patch, and every year Josh helps Grandpa to sell the cheerful golden pumpkins to customers. One evening Josh and his little sister Callie play hide-and-seek in the big pumpkin field. Josh runs off to hide, and as he makes his way around the pumpkins he comes across a huge one, a mammoth fruit. There and then Josh decides that he is going to claim the pumpkin for himself.

The next day customers start to arrive at Grandpa’s farm to buy pumpkins. Josh does his best to steer people away from his prize, but eventually Mr. Keegan the postman finds it and announces that he is going to buy it.

Desperate to keep the giant pumpkin Josh cuts its vine and carts the fruit to the barn where he hides it. Josh barely has time to cover up the pumpkin with Grandpa comes running in to tell Josh that Callie is lost. Quickly Josh comes up with a plan that he hopes will help Callie find her way back home.

With wonderfully warm illustrations to accompany the story, this picture book will surely help children to get into the mood for fall.
