In the northern hemisphere June is the month when the days are the longest. It is usually warm and sunny, and summer officially begins in this month. Children often start their long summer vacation in June and families plan trips and holidays.

In the animal kingdom the babies that were born in early spring are now ready to explore the world around them. They learn new skills which they will need in the years to come. With great care their parents protect them from predators as the young creatures come out of their burrows, dens, and nests.

This is also the month when American and Canadian families show their appreciation for their fathers. Father’s Day gives people of all ages the opportunity to show their fathers how much they are valued and loved.

This title from the “It happens in the month of…” series will give children a clear picture of what to expect in the month of June. They will discover that this is a busy time of year in the natural world and that there are many things to look forward to in this first month of summer.

With stories, tales from history, and much more, this small book is packed with items which are sure to interest young readers
