  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an insect? What would the world look like if you were, say, an ant? In this book you can now see for yourself what the world looks like from an ant’s point of view and you will get to meet some of the ant’s neighbors too.

 So off we go. The first creature the ant encounters is a large Migratory Locust. It is a lot bigger than the ant and one can be grateful that ant is not on this creature’s menu! Who would have thought that there would be so many animals running around down here. Among the tall stems of grass the ant sees a Ground Beetle, a Grasshopper, and a Tiger Beetle. Next the ant encounters a Tree Frog. The ant, not surprisingly, wonders if he is “looking for lunch.”

  Children who have an interest in insects will be fascinated by this very unique picture book. The photographer clearly spent a lot of time on his belly to get his remarkable pictures which truly take the reader down to ant level. The blades of grass look enormous, as do the clumps of earth and the creatures which the ant comes across during his walk. In addition to its obvious uniqueness factor, this book also gives the reader quite a bit of information about the insect world. For one thing it is quite clear that a little ant has to very careful – there are lots of creatures out there that would like to eat it.
