Three cousins have come to live with their Aunt Lucy. Lilly, Rosie (Lilly's sister), and Tess have parents who are dancers, who are traveling around the world and living in hotels. It was decided that it would be much better for the girls if they came and stayed with Aunt Lucy until the girl' parents returned. They love staying with Aunt Lucy and soon come up with something fun to do over the summer, they will have a cookie-making business.
In no time the three girls are busy making cookies and making their first deliveries. The best part of the whole thing is that they make some wonderful friends. There is Michael who recently came out of the hospital and who clearly has a  'thing' for Aunt Lucy. Of course this delights the girls love the idea of being in the middle of a. Then there is the sweet and very elderly Mrs. White, who celebrates her ninetieth birthday with the three girls. The girls also decide that they need to play cupid for Aunt Lucy and Michael and the results of their labors are very promising indeed.
With a simple story and Wendy Halperin's lovely and comforting illustrations, this little book is sure to please girls who are fully on their way to enjoying reading on their own. This is the first book in a series of six books about the Cobble Street Cousins.

ACTION ALERT!

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
