I don’t want a posh dog

Emma Dodd

Picture Book

Ages 4 to 6

Little Brown, 2008, 0-316-03390-1

There are all kinds of dogs out there. There are posh dogs whose fur needs to be blow dried and styled. There are bouncy dogs that can knock you over, and “snooty” dogs that have a highfaluting attitude. There are dogs that growl and those that snap. And there are dogs that are “greedy,” “needy,” and “pleady.” None of these dogs appeal to the little girl in this story. No, she doesn’t want a fancy breed. She just wants a dog who will be her friend, who will love her, and who will be happy to spend time with her.

This book celebrates the family dog, the mutt who is a great companion and who is happy to go along with whatever his little master or mistress is doing. With a delightful rhyming text and charming multimedia illustrations, this is a picture book that young dog lovers will surely enjoy.
