Most of us have heard the song “Hush Little Baby,” a comforting lullaby in which a mother asks her child not to cry, promising that Papa will bring him or her all kinds of splendid gifts including a mockingbird, a diamond ring, and a dog named Rover.

In this amusing and very original picture book a mama dragon sings her own version of the famous song. Instead of a mocking bird or diamond ring this horned and winged mother will bring her baby a princess, some knights, a king, or a fresh magician. Of course she means for her fractious baby to eat these delicious offerings. The baby is not easy to please and the mother gets the hungry little creature all kinds of delicacies which she hopes will make a good bedtime snack. Will she eventually be able to satisfy her little one so that Baby will go to sleep?

Little children who give their mothers a hard time at bedtime will love this quirky and refreshing picture book. The rhymes are funny, and the treatment of this well known lullaby is certain to being a smile to the faces of even the grumpiest of children.
