How big is a pig?

Stella Blackstone

Illustrated by Clare Beaton

Board Book

Ages 1 to 3

Barefoot Books, 2000, 1-84148-959-X

In this farmyard we are going to explore the world of opposites with a young curly-tailed pig. As we follow the pig around the yard we meet a thin cow and a fat one. We see chickens that are in their coop and some that are outside. We watch how some bees “fly high” and those that “fly low.” And what about the little pig? How big is it?

With its cunning rhyming couplets and its fantastic artwork, this is a board book that little children will want to come back to again and again. To illustrate the ‘opposites’ rhymes, Clare Beaton has created beautiful felt pictures that are creatively sewn and embellished. With their textures and their raised appearance, these pictures are sure to delight young readers.
