Haunted

Meg Cabot

Fiction (Series)

Ages 12 and up

HarperCollins, 2003, 978-0-06-075164-7

Susannah Simon has a big problem. She is love with the ghost called Jesse who just happens to be living in her bedroom. Though Suze knows how crazy her situation is, she cannot help how she feels about Jesse. Suze’s situation is worsened when she goes back to school after the summer break to find that Paul Slater is now a student there. In her last adventure Suze discovered that Paul was a mediator like herself, though he has no interest in helping the dead. He seems to have another agenda altogether, and he is not afraid to do violence so that he can get what he wants. A ruthless and heartless individual, Paul seems to have powers that Suze can only guess at.

Paul determinedly pursues Suze and none of her rejections seem to work. She cannot help being at least slightly attracted to the young man, and finally she agrees to go to his house so that he can show her what he knows about mediators. This is a huge mistake, and what is already a bad situation only gets worse with every passing day.

In this delightful romantic thriller Meg Cabot once again takes her main character on an exciting adventure that includes: dealing with annoying family members, trying to manage good looking boys who like her, and trying to control the behavior of ghosts that have an attitude problem. Readers who have enjoyed the pervious mediator titles will not be disappointed when they join Suze in this adventure.
