Most of us, at some time or other, develop a passionate interest for dinosaurs. This splendid kit will delight dinophiles of a range of ages. For the younger child there are the plastic dinosaur toys. In all there are sixteen colored figures many of which will be old friends to children who already recognize T. Rex, Pterosaurs, Triceratops, and the long-necked Brachiosaurus. Such children will also enjoy finding pictures of their plastic characters on the pages of the accompanying book.
For the older child there is the book and the “Dino Dig” game. The book is artfully, and amusing illustrated with each double page spread including an interesting “Dino Data” fact box. Indeed the entire text is full of facts which dinosaur fans will find interesting. The text includes a history of the dinosaur eras, descriptions of dinosaur behavior, and information about specific dinosaur species and families. There is also a discussion about why dinosaurs became extinct. At the back of the book there are five activities which will appeal to dino fans.
Finally there is the board game. The object of the game is for the “scientist” players to collect as many dinosaur artifacts before it is time for them to return to their museum. Quiz cards make the game more challenging for older players.
This is one of the titles in the “Groovy Tube” series. Other titles include: “Artic Chill!” “Bug Blast!” and “Sea Splash.”
