Spider is going to share some of his life with us. He tells us about how his Grandpa likes to go on trips to far off places. The old fellow also talks about the days when flies and spiders "did not get along." Nowadays things are very different for one of Spider's best friends is a fly and the two of them do all sorts of things together. Of course they encounter problems sometimes but they don't let the little difficulties get in the way of their friendship.
As we read on we learn that Spider is really afraid of vacuums and shoes, both can be deadly to a spider. It is interesting to see things from the point of view of a creature who usually is so small that it doesn't register on our radar, unless we get annoyed by it that is. Here though is a spider with a personality, with attitude, and with a sense of humor and we cannot help liking him.
From the duo who created the hilarious "Diary of A Worm" this new book is funny, packed with tongue-in-cheek humor which adults will enjoy, humorously illustrated, and it has an important message to share about being tolerant with one another even when we are different. If a spider and a fly can become friends, surely humans can learn to be a little more understanding when they find a spider's web in their kitchen.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
