  It was Christmas Eve and the big Christmas tree was all ready, looking as pretty as a picture with its decorations, is fairy on top, and its presents beneath. All was quiet in the house except for its littlest occupants. The mice were getting their tree ready and writing a note for Santa inviting him to have a rest and to partake of a snack. Then Dad mouse told a story and Mom mouse sang and song. The mouse children hung up their stockings and were put to bed.

  But the mouse children just could not settle down and go to sleep. Finally, some time after midnight, they heard something outside and though they knew they should not get up, they could not help themselves and they went to the window and looked outside.

  And out there, in the wintery landscape, the mouse children saw Santa flying past in his sleigh. Of course they could not resist running downstairs to watch the great man at work.

  In this charming version of Clement C. Moore’s classic Christmas poem children will get to meet a delightful pair of characters who behave in a very understandable way. After all, haven’t many of us have had a hard time going to sleep on Christmas Eve? Haven’t many of us lain awake trying to listen for the sound of sleigh bells even though we know we should have been asleep hours ago?

  With swinging rhymes and delightful illustrations showing a Christmas house from the point of view of a mouse, this is picture book which families will enjoy reading together on a December evening.
