Christmas is coming and Anna is taking her job as a big sister very seriously. She is telling her new little brother all about Christmas and what to expect. How do you know that Christmas is coming? Well, for one thing you see lots of lights being put up around the neighborhood which are like “ribbons of stars shining in the dark.”

Then Mama gets out the decorations and the family goes out to choose their Christmas tree which they decorate together. When this happens you know that Christmas is just around the corner.

Of course waiting for Christmas can be very hard. To make the time go by faster there are lots of things that you can do. You can make cards and presents for friends and family, you can bake cookies, and you can write your letter to Santa telling him what you would like most for Christmas.

You really know that Christmas is just days away when Grandma and Grandpa come to stay, and finally it is Christmas Eve. This last day is the hardest one of all to get through. Falling asleep on Christmas Eve is almost impossible but eventually it happens and you wake up on Christmas morning.

Of course this Christmas will be different because there will be something new around that Christmas tree which will make this Christmas extra special.

In this quite delightful picture book we get to be a part of one family’s Christmas preparations. It is especially charming to hear the story told from the little girl’s point of view as she explains the Christmas traditions to her little brother. Of course the highlight of the story is when she finally realizes that the best part of this particular Christmas celebration as that there is a new member if the family.

Filled with wonderful descriptions, this is a picture book that families with love to read together during the holidays.
