Edward loves to read. In fact ever since he learned how to read he has read everything he can get his hands, or rather his eyes, on. Best of all, is what happens when Edward reads a book. It is almost as if he is transported into the book he is reading. In a flash Edward is no longer in his world but he is in a fascinating, often exciting, book world. Thus it is that Edward feels as if he has been one of Robin Hood's Merry Men, and that he was one of Admiral Peary's team as they raced to the North Pole.
This wonderful love of books gives Edward hours of enjoyment but it also brings about a very odd situation, for one night, while he is in bed and reading a book about pirates, Edward finds himself surrounded by a group of pirates who want the book he is reading. They claim that they need it to find their lost treasure. Now Edward got the book out of the library and he is not willing to give it up. Indeed he soon finds himself in grave danger.
The author of this surprising book has created a character that many of us can identify with, a child who loves and is touched by books. Not only that, but the author also shows children what books have to offer, how they can bring stories and places into ones life, and how books can be exciting and full of adventures. All one needs is a little imagination and books can take you anywhere that you want to go. This is certainly a book which should be on every child's book shelf.
