Daddy Goes to Work
Jabari Asim
Illustrated by Aaron Boyd
Picture Book
Ages 4 to 6
Little Brown, 2006, 0-316-73575-2
Today is a very special day for Daddy is taking his little daughter to work with him. Together they ride on the train, walk through the streets, ride the elevator, and together they spend the morning working on the computer and talking on the phone. Then they go down to the street to get a hotdog for lunch. After their little break the little girl helps her father make a presentation at a meeting and does such a good job that the audience claps.
With cheerful and clever rhymes the author of this book perfectly captures a very special time when a little girl is able to go to work with her father for a day. Not only is this a description of the day but it is also a celebration of the very special relationship that the little girl and her father share.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
