Biscuit and his little girl are making a Hanukkah present for some of their friends. With paint, clay and a piece of wood the little girl creates a one of a kind menorah. Of course Biscuit has to get in on everything that is going on including getting blue paint on his nose. Once the menorah is dry the little girl puts nine candles into the nine little clay pots she made, one candle for each of the eight days of Hanukkah ,and one which is called the leader candle or shamash.
This simple little board book about the much loved little dog and his little girl provides a good introduction for small children who know very little about this holiday. Children may like to try making a menorah of their own, just like the one the little girl makes.

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) needs your help. The President's proposed fiscal year 2009 budget released in February eliminates the Inexpensive Book Distribution Program, which is the RIF Book Distribution Program. Unless Congress reinstates funding for this program, RIF will be unable to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF serves 4.6 million children. Please click on the link below to visit the RIF Action Alert page so you can make your voice heard and support their efforts.
